Sergio Sainz-Maza Aparicio
Sergio holds a degree in Physical Sciences and a Master’s in Geophysics and Meteorology from the Complutense University of Madrid, and a PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Barcelona. Since 2023, he has been part of the Imaging Diagnostics Studies Department within the Research and Training Area of the Spanish Cultural Heritage Institute (IPCE). His work focuses on the application of non-invasive physical techniques to the study of cultural heritage, through the use and interpretation of imaging tools across different ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum, including radiography and multispectral techniques. Since 2024, he has served as one of the supervisors of the IPCE radioactive facility. His work contributes to material analysis, the diagnosis of conservation status, and support for research and the conservation and restoration processes of cultural assets.
